This website is established to promote medical ethics that are
soundly rooted in Biblical truth. We stand with the proclamation of the Bible
that "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that
the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work (II
Timothy 3:16-17).
The Westminster Confession of Faith amplifies this total
sufficiency of Scripture when it states that "The whole counsel of God,
concerning all things necessary for His own glory, man's salvation, faith, and
life, is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary
consequence may be deduced from Scripture..." (Chapter 1.6.).
The centerpiece of this website is the Journal of Biblical
Ethics in Medicine, founded in 1987 (and published through 1994) by three
physicians who believed (and still do) that no other publication on medical
ethical issues is Biblically sound and congruent. We establish this website so
that all students, physicians, pastors, health professionals, and concerned
Christians may freely read and research these labors of a variety of scholars
who have advanced and enriched the modern medical ethical debate.
We make the claim of being Biblical, and on that basis,
challenge those who differ with the positions stated here to demonstrate a
Biblical position of those opposing views. We are willing to publish such
views on this site after proper editorial and professional review.
